Is your partner's snoring keeping you awake?

Absolutely Dental - Sleep Apnoea

Did you know that some of our dentists have great skills and knowledge in screening for and treating sleep apnoea and snoring?

Sleep apnoea, snoring and sleep disordered breathing at any age can significantly effect health, development and wellbeing in the short and long term. These disorders can cause an increase in rates of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and multiple other medical conditions.

Many of the signs of sleep apnoea and sleep disordered breathing can manifest in the mouth, teeth and structures of the airway. The shape of the mouth, jaws and their function can leave you at higher risk of these breathing issues and apnoea rates.

Our dentists at Absolutely Dental are trained in screening for these issues and Dr Lindsay has additional training in sleep medicine and skilled in the area of the diagnosis and management of sleep apnoea and snoring.

At Absolutely Dental we have a type 2 home sleep screening machine that you can take home to help aid the diagnosis of these problems. The machine measures oxygen levels, heart rate, chest movements, phases of sleep, flow of oxygen, grinding and periodic leg movements. All this in the comfort of your own home. Most people are eligible for the Medicare rebate for sleep testing.

If you have snoring problems, grinding issues, disturbed sleep, continued daytime tiredness or repeatedly need the bathroom during the night then please contact us on 4723 8100 to arrange an appointment to see if you would benefit from having a sleep screening test.
